“I will always relate Tom Waits’ music to the times I’ve spent working here with my friends.” — Faz”

It’s been a while since we have heard anything from Simon Degroot and we were pleasantly surprised to receive an email with his new collection of work. To us, mostly because we haven’t seen Simon’s work in a while, this is a big step forward and a change in direction. A change that we are 100% behind. This new work uses mixed media, whilst also using elements of his past work. Love it…
Reka is a long standing name in the Australian street art world. His unique style and approach to painting and getting his name out has earnt him respect all over the world. Tonight is his open studio, where he will be unveiling work from his 10 year career… Reka heads off overseas soon to start the new chapter in his artistic career, so this will be your last chance to see his work in Melbourne for a while (maybe even pick up an original piece from back in the day) before he leaves. More details below, on the Backwoods site here, Reka’s site here, and the official Facebook event here.
Phil James is one definitely one of our favourite and most talented artists in Sydney. Most famous for his re-painted and appropriated artworks installed throughout Sydney’s streets.
Mark Alsweiler recently opened his solo show “Wild Wood” at House of Bricks in Melbourne. This new body of work is, as expected, amazing. From his small scale minimal pieces to the large feature painting, this new work doesn’t dissapoint. Our favourite pieces would definitely have to be the hand carved man and woman sculptures. See more below or over at Mark’s website here.
