Sneak Peek: Beastman “Genesis” at The Tate – Sydney

‘Genesis’ is the latest instalment in the ongoing body of artwork by Sydney based artist Beastman (Bradley Eastman). This much anticipated exhibition features a series of new paintings on wood further progressing the artist’s distinctive style and exploring concepts surrounding the origins of life. These vibrant, geometric and impressive paintings range in size from small to large, reflecting themes of generation and growth in the natural world, whilst communicating the futuristic and overwhelming idea of nature coming to life in a way could have never imagined. The deities featured in Beastman’s ambitious new works are a representation of lifeforms in nature progressing beyond the boundaries of our imagination, when the cosmic forces of nature eventually reveal the irrelevance of humanity in the universe.

Opening: Ian Strange “Suburban” at the NGV

Tomorrow night is the opening of “Suburban”, the long awaited next body of work from Perth born, New York based artist Ian Strange (better known to most as Kid Zoom).

We’ve been seeing snippets of images, video and behind the scenes action recently and we’re super excited to see how it’s all going to come together. This is a major event for Ian and an even bigger event for his peers and the community he’s come from. To have a well established institution such as NGV host a young artist’s solo show is such a great thing. Don’t miss the opening!

More photos to come after the opening…

MORE FROM THE SITE

A/D Adelaide is comprised of three sessions; the AGDA design session, the Art Park artists session and the A/D next generation session. Each session features three very different yet equally talented thought leaders; each presenting insights based on their own successes and failures.

It is the events combined goal to provide every attendee an accurate snap shot into the future of the creative industries and point out the opportunities which are a foot for the next generation of art directors and creative leaders.

Joining Adelaide’s native presenters is a fine selection of premium directors, designers and artists, many of which are yet to present in the state of South Australia. And much like yourself, we are truly excited to further our understanding of design through the experiences of this years world class line-up.

To close the event, we invite you to celebrate the #ADADL13 at the official Analogue/Digital after party. This invite only event will re-define the meaning of networking! Video: Beastman X Element

I recently teamed up with Element with the intention of painting a store wall in Wollongong, NSW. Instead, it rained, then it rained and then rained some more… So we hired an 8 tonne truck, convinced a truck driver to move the thing, and we painted the inside. Film maker David Child was there to create this piece documenting the day.

Also look out for some more Beastman X Element collaborations coming in the near future.

TwoOne Live Paint and Butoh at Backwoods.

Allot of people were flipped out by Fridays Butoh performance, so Sunday we’ll be trying something different at Backwoods.

Hiroyasu will be live painting along side Shiro Murakoshi at the gallery, starting 5pm.

It could be totally fucked up, it could be total magic, or both. We’ll see Sunday.

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER

You’re just tiny on top of a woman’s body.
The body surface looks and feels like an enormous mountain and desert.
You can also see fountains in there sometimes if you walk around on the ground.
It’s like a ocean. it’s an adventure in the jungle at midnight.
This is your world, you wanted to tell me.
Take me to your leader.
