‘Jeune Fille / Jeune Femme’ opening Wednesday 30th, 6pm.

Please join us for the opening of ‘Jeune Fille / Jeune Femme’. Wednesday 30th October, 6pm – 9pm.

Two years ago, there was an F de C shop off Crown St in Sydney. When it closed, its contents came into the possession of a photographer. Two large boxes contained clothing from Belgium, Paris and Japan, and the photographer began shooting these garments on models. Originally it was because there were some rare pieces in there, museum grade fashion relics, and these boxes weren’t going to stay in Sydney for long. What has become of these images is an exhibition called Jeune-Fille/Jeune-Femme. Featured are the fashions of Alexander McQueen, Comme des Garcons, Dior, Dries Van Noten, Givenchy and Yohji Yamamoto, photographed by Hyun Lee.

The exhibit will be accompanied by a book which be launched alongside the gallery opening. It is a new work by Hyun Lee in collaboration with F de C, featuring a larger selection of images shot with F de C’s collection of garments. In English and in French, “Jeune-Fille/Jeune-Femme” is a book encompassing Young-Girls and Young-Women who are fashion models, role models, revolutionaries and murderers.

F de C is an amorphous entity which is at times a publisher, a periodical, a shop and every now and then, an event. It is acting and reacting in the space between fashion and the photographic. F de C is an international project and is based nowhere in particular.

Hyun Lee is a photographer based in Sydney.

Film screening: Saturday 2 November, 2pm
The exhibition will run until the 3rd of November.
