Exhibition: Mick Gallery summer group show – Sydney

Mick Gallery opened their summer group show yesterday which features a handful of their artists including Clara Adolphs, Hugh Stewart, Twoone and Nicholas Blowers. The show will be on throughout December until just before Christmas. It looks like Twoone is showing a series of unqieu pieces made directly onto glass. Something new from the Melbourne based artists. Get down and see it while it’s on.

Opening: ‘A Study of Eyes’ at Backwoods Gallery – Melbourne

Backwoods is hosting a group show of epic proportions (no pun intended). ‘A study of eyes’ sees the gallery group together some of the world’s best to examine the eye. If the last group show ‘A study of Hands’ is anything to go by, we recommend getting down to see this show. With a lineup like this, it’s bound to be amazing.

Outside: Rone paints ‘Project M’ in Berlin

Rone never stops traveling, and will never stop finding big walls to paint. The first stop on his end of year trip shows us that he can paint his large beautiful portraits, even when faced with a barrage of nasty windows.

As part of project ‘M’, curated by Strychinin Gallery, I have painted three images of Teresa Oman on the top 3 stories of the 5 story building. This was a huge challenge working around the windows and balconies. Over 5 days painting in the freezing cold high above Berlin working on the largest wall I have ever attempted.

Photos: Daek William x Belasyse

Daek William recently completed a huge acrylic on board artwork for bar Belasyse Perth. ‘Her secret world of oddities’ took 12 days to create, entirely with brush. Showcasing Daek’s ability to switch between large scale aerosol works on the street to intricate detailed brush work. This impressive mix of tiny detail across such a large scale is a must see. Photos: Askew ‘The Evolving Face’ at The Tate – Sydney

Last week we hosted Askew‘s sold out debut Australian solo exhibition, at The Tate Sydney. Thanks to everyone that came down and met the man himself, who is currently still in town for Wonderwalls and Hit the Bricks festivals.

The show boasted ten beautifully painted portrait pieces and a limited edition zine of 50, which Askew drew in for everyone that purchased. This collection of work is a massive step forward for the artist, having previously stuck to a strict colour scheme, these paintings saw him let loose and get experimental with more effects and colours.
