Photos: ‘It’s All Around You’ by Beastman at Deus Temple of Enthusiasm, Bali

After relocating to Canggu, Bali in June of this year, Beastman (Bradley Eastman) created a series of new paintings. The new colourful and geometric works were heavily inspired by his new surroundings – the landscape, people, industry, customs and cultures. He was invited to exhibit the paintings at the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm in Canggu in September, here are some photos of the exhibition and paintings.

Now that the dust (and sunburns) have settled from Wonderwalls, we can share some of the action from another amazing weekend. A huge thank you to our major sponsors for all the support and all the paint! Thank you to everyone that helped and also the artists for taking time out of the lives to add more beautiful murals to Wollongong City.

We will be bringing you more posts from the various parts of the weekend, but we thought we’d kick off with all of the finished murals painted for this year’s Wonderwalls in Wollongong, 2015!

Photos: Heidi Yardley at ArtHouse Gallery – Sydney

Arthouse Gallery are currently hosting an exhibition by Heidi Yardley until the 20th of June. Get there while you can to view these stunning works up close.

More info here.

Melbourne-based artist Heidi Yardley explores uncanny worlds of the familiar and strange in her elliptical depictions of fractured imagery. Yardley’s latest series of works comprises monochromatic charcoal drawings based on collages created from the artist’s extensive archive of printed material, predominantly from the 1960s and 70s. The works straddle a variety of subjects, including the female figure, floral arrangements, historical sculpture and the Australian landscape. The exhibition title, ‘Meeting the shadow’, references Carl Jung’s psychoanalytic exploration of ‘the shadow self’ as the darker side of human consciousness. Rich in chiaroscuro and surreal aesthetics, Yardley’s new works explore the psychology of the shadow self – fragmented identity and those things that exist on the periphery of our awareness. The artist also returns to her interest in spirit photography and the notion of trickery within esoteric and psychic worlds, creating drawings that rely heavily on the photographic image.
