Opening: ‘Spitting in the Urinal’ by Marcus Dixon at Good Space – Sydney

Marcus Dixon

Marcus Dixon’s work is the perfect blend of classic Australian iconography and contemporary skate/street culture. It breaks down the wall that separates the regional and the metropolitan. Marcus speaks the language of both; he’s cosmopolitan.

Fifteen years ago, at the height of Australia’s obsession with American streetwear, the only crocodile you’d see on a skateboarder’s outfit would have been on a Lacoste polo shirt.

Marcus is at the forefront of the new guard; A wave of young Australian artists and designers that have reclaimed Australiana for the next generation.

This, his second solo show, is based around a new series of large format illustrations, screen print editions and modern memorabilia.
