Photos: Adnate ‘Beyond the Lands’ at Metro Gallery – Melbourne

Adnate recently opened his solo show ‘Beyond the Lands at Melbourne’s Metro Gallery, where the artist paid tribute to Indigenous communities and their people.

With a heavy focus on the face, this show was all about the finer details. Seeing his paintings far away are beautiful, but up close they reveal details which all tell a story about the indigenous people and their culture.

Opening: Adnate ‘Beyond the Lands’ at Metro Gallery – Melbourne

Adnate would have to be one of the most talented Australian realistic artists’ within the medium of spray paint. He has exhibited his work and painted small to large scale murals all over the world. If you’re in Melbourne, don’t miss out on his solo show ‘Beyond the Lands’ at Metro Gallery, Melbourne.

“Working mainly with aerosol spray paint, Adnate pays homage to his origins as a graffiti artist and his complex practice rivals the establishment of contemporary portraiture. He has an innate ability to deliver the intense impact of light and shade that plays across his works no matter their scale. It’s the fusion of his passion for indigenous Australians combined with his graffiti background and his knowledge of contemporary and traditional fine art techniques which creates truly masterful paintings on canvas.”

Video: Adnate goes big in Hosier Lane – Melbourne

Melbourne-based artist ‘Adnate’ floated high over Australia’s most iconic lane way to paint a significant wall that has never before been available to any artist. This forms part of a project entitled ‘Paint Up!’ by Hosier Inc, a not-for-profit association. The association formed in 2013 from a community-driven passion to address amenity issues in the lane way. It aims to nurture the space with the help of all who have an interest in the area and want to take part. Members include residents and businesses, restaurants, artists, tourists, photographers and regular visitors.

Event: Wonderwalls Wollongong 2013 – A three day art festival

We are excited to finally announce the details for Wonderwalls Wollongong 2013. Our yearly mural arts festival in Wollongong, presented by The Hours, Verb Syndicate and Ironlak.

With huge thanks to our supporters we have managed to pull together some of the best street and graffiti artists from both Australia and overseas.

The festival will run from November 8 -10, including an art exhibition, artists talks and multiple large-scale murals being painted in the Wollongong CBD from featured artists SMUG (Glasgow), ASKEW (Auckland), ADNATE (Melbourne) WONDERLUST (Melbourne) VANS THE OMEGA (Adelaide), PHIBS (Sydney), SHIDA (Melbourne) FINTAN MAGEE (Brisbane), TWOONE (Melbourne), BEASTMAN (Sydney), NUMSKULL (Sydney), ROACH (Sydney), SCOTT MARSH (Sydney), THOMAS JACKSON (Sydney) PUDL (Sydney), BAFCAT (Wollongong), JAE COPP (Sunshine Coast), IDIOT (Wollongong), SYKE (Wollongong) and TRAIT (Wollongong).

Joining us this year will also be select members of the Ironlak Family, featuring LINZ (Sydney), SOFLES (Brisbane), REALS (Brisbane), SIRUM (Melbourne) and TREAS (Brisbane).

The artists on the Wonderwalls roster will converge on the city for this series of free public events. In Wonderwalls Wollongong’s second year they want to improve on gains made last year to present the city as a viable option for creative endeavours and projects, a place where artists can afford to live at lower cost without sacrificing culture. Increased cultural infrastructure will see the small city as an artistic tour de force in years to come.
Get down to The Gong for Wonderwalls, and the unveiling of their hidden artistic identity. What you see might surprise you.
