Ghostpatrol at Backwoods

Backwoods Gallery is thrilled to announce the latest exhibition of iconic Melbourne artist Ghostpatrol. Cosmic Scale and the Super Future runs from Friday 18 May to Wednesday 13 June and will comprise of five large scale acrylic paintings on linen.

Across this new series of paintings, the artist imagines shapes and forms created in the super future, beyond human kind in the great transformations of matter and dark matter in the cosmos. Far from intense in nature, with Ghostpatrol’s highly stylised worlds are inhabited by characters as curious about their place on the canvas as their artist is about his in the cosmos.

Two One is without a doubt one of our favourite artists in Australia. Even more so after seeing what he’s been up to. It seems like he’s stepped into a new level with his work, which we’re really into. It’s always exciting when an artist discovers a new thread.

Check out this new wall he painted in Collingwood, near Backwoods Gallery. It is impressive in every sense of the word. Size, length, colour scheme….everything. We love it. See more photos and the joinup here.

Sneak Peek: ‘Primary Suspects’ by Reka

This Friday is the opening of Reka‘s solo show ‘Primary Suspects’ at Backwoods Gallery in Melbourne.

His last show at Backwoods, ‘Down Low Too Slow’ was a huge success, so we are really excited to see this new collection of work. In between painting a bunch of large scale outdoor walls, Reka has been uber busy in the studio, creating these new works on canvas and old, used and rusted spraycans.

If you know anything about graffiti, then you know the Bode family. Both Mark and father Vaughn have together created some of the most iconic characters to have ever influenced the graffiti and street art culture. Cheech Wizard… Cobalt 60… and so on.
