Ambush Gallery presents Transient

As if the Ambush team weren’t busy enough with this giant, they have gathered together 6 great artists to present a show titled “Transient“.

Three large scale paintings done by the following artists in groups of two. Beastman-Phibs / Jumbo-Numskull / Max Berry-Mark Alsweiler.

“aMBUSH Gallery is very proud to partner with The Galeries in the activation and launch of a new lane way art project, Lane Four, in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

Kickstarting our programming is Sydney’s best in a unique collaboration between the artists BEASTMAN & PHIBS, JUMBO & NUMSKULL and MAX BERRY & MARK ALSWEILER responding with three large scale collaborative one-off original artworks, displayed at Lane Four at The Galeries, 500 George Street (Pitt St entrance) from October 13 to November 11.”

Last night was the opening of “Journey”. The latest solo exhibition by one of Australia’s most talented graffiti artists, Phibs.

Phibs never fails to impress and this show is no different. His latest body of work consists of large scale paintings, which are much looser and free-form than his past gallery work. In the second room there was a big cluster of smaller paintings and framed sculptures. Definitely our favourite part of the show.

The show is open until the 28th of September at Plump Gallery, Enmore. Get down!

Phibs “Journey” Exhibition

Everfresh at NGV Studio

From the 10th of June – 8th of July, the Everfresh lads will be taking over the NVG (National Gallery of Victoria) Studio for an exhibition and working installation. You’ll get a chance to see the EFC kids doing what they do best.

It’s Semi-Permanent time of the year again, and with the SP conference comes interesting exhibitions.

This year there is one show in particular we are quite excited about. The etcc exhibition. “a series of exhibitions that are remixed and remixable”….LEGALLY. And that’s the point. This exhibition gives artists the chance to pick Creative Commons licensed imagery and create an artwork based on the imagery, without the copyright police on their back.

I’ll leave the finer details to come from the etcc folk, but we are keen to see what some of our regular favourites like Beastman, Phibs, Numskull, Ben Frost, Mark Alsweiler, Mini Graff and many many more, come up with. See below for more info and opening details.

Everfresh: Live at the NGV Studio

The NGV Studio has recently been host to the Formula 1 crew doing live painting at the new space. Next up is the Everfresh lads. If you’re down in the burn, get there and see Phibs, Rone, Maka, Meggs, Wonderlust & special guest Miso. More details below.

“We will be painting the inside of the atrium while renovations take place, the wall will be up for a month then another crew will come in and paint. Kind of like a city laneway but in a national gallery, if that makes sense.”
