All we can say is, thank you so much. Thanks to our artists and thanks to everyone who came to The Tate to see the show. It was a full house and a super fun night. For those who missed it, unfortunately the show ended yesterday…

We will be posting a view of the show plus individual artworks that were on show soon. In the meantime, check out the photos from the opening night (Courtesy of Ears and Mishy. Thanks guys!).

THE HOURS Launch Exhibition Sydney

When The Opening Hours first started, it was a means to fill the gap. A way to document a part of the art world that was going unnoticed.

After almost exactly 3 years of going strong, we are gearing up to get even stronger. We are proud to announce that we are officially launching THE HOURS.

“THE HOURS is a joint venture by three long time friends and artists, Brad Eastman (Beastman), Marty Routledge and Numskull. These three Sydney locals have each been instrumental in developing and enriching the Australian contemporary, street, graffiti and low brow art community over the last decade. They are now combining their many skills, fans, ideas, contacts and thriving ambition into THE HOURS, which promises to be an innovative creative force for years to come.”

To celebrate the launch, THE HOURS presents an exhibition of new paintings by a few our friends. Some of the most well known and respected artists in Australia. You won’t want to miss this show…

Worship Nothing @ Lo-Fi Collective

Tonight at Lo-Fi Collective. Scott Owen, Craig Atkins, Slug, Sprinkles, Houl, Birdhat & Amanda Rondonuwu.

Freedom of religion has given way for a departure from traditional religions to more personal forms of worship. Infamous icons such as the cross or Mother Mary replaced by tools to create such as the skateboard or aerosol can. New god like creatures and fictitious fantasies are created to replace traditional stories of religion followed for generations.

Worship Nothing explores the iconography within contemporary subcultures.

The Opening Hours Christmas gift guide

We are now half way through December, so it’s about the time when shopping centres start packing full with families, kids, grandma’s, grandpa’s and last minute shoppers. We prefer to stay out of harms way and shop online. Below is a list of goodies to fill either your or someone else’s stocking.

1. We currently have a rare zine/screenprinted bag package from Sydney’s infmaous SLUG.
At only $15 it’s a steal. Click here.

7. Dangerfork is one of the newest print stores to appear on the scene, with their release by PRIZM catching our eye. Prizm hardly ever releases new artwork so this is a rare opportunity. Click here.

8. Finally, Gallery AS (as we have mentioned) have released a print with Mark Whalen (Kill Pixie). We have picked one of these up for ourselves and we reccomend you do the same. The artwork is classic and the print quality is second to none. Click here.

For Sale: Sugar Shark Issue One

Back in August we ran quite a generous giveaway of zines by Slug. There were only 15 to give, and they went SUPER quick.

This time round we are announcing the real release of Sugar Shark Issue One. A rare collectors item that will disappear just as quick.

This time around, Slug has created an edition of 20 white cover zines and 40 zine/tote bag combos. The zine/tote bag combo includes a hand made zine AND a hand silk screen-printed (by the artist) tote bag. There are two different designs on the totes, and two different covers (black or white). These are ALL different and cannot be chosen. We pick them randomly for you.
